About the Lake and Towns this past week

We had our Zone Conference in Winterthur, Switzerland this past week, and as usual, it was marvelous. President Kohler gave us a great council, though he was suffering from laryngitis and struggled to talk. It was good to be among all the great missionaries. This was a combination of two zones, since there are so many zones, it helps for the president to get to them all. We have eight zones in the mission. In my mission back in 1970 we only had four zones. We received the challenge to try to have a baptism in every unit (ward or branch) of the mission by the end of the year. That number would be 68. We cover a large area.

Also among our activities, we spent some time in the city of Tettnang trying to visit some less-active members and former investigators. The elders were able to make a few contacts, though the work is still a bit slow here. We struggle to find success in the work. This past week as been full of experiences, both discouraging and uplifting. We are on the Lord's errand. He will bring about His work.

On the ferry crossing the Bodensee (Lake Constance). We could actually see the mountains on that day.

There were a lot of airplane contrails in the air.

Our fun and dedicated elders, an American between two Germans.

Leaving the apartment of a less-active member.

They keep a lot of wood piles, in preparation for winter. This was a particularly novel way of stacking wood logs.

They have a few corn mazes here, but not many.

Fall colors on the city tower.

They are busy fixing a road. They rarely use concrete here. Here they are building the curb-and gutter. it is always made of small stones. It takes a lot of work but lasts a very long time.

An attempted selfie...
