Mushroom hunting

We went with the Relief Society on their annual mushroom hunt. The men usually do not go, but this year a number of us were part of the hunt. After the hunt, we went to the Trautmann home and ate them. We had Alex with us, an expert on which ones were edible and which poisonous. I was an expert at finding the poisonous ones. You cannot tell by their appearance. One really ugly one you will see here is actually quite a delicacy and is very good. It just looks scary.

This is just a glimpse of the valley between Meersburg and the hills where we went to gather mushrooms.

... and one of the villages, Bermatingen, with its Rathaus in the middle of the highway through town.

Hiking to the mushroom hunt.

Smelling a wild mushroom.

Most of them are quite small.

This is one of the bigger ones.

Searching the forest floor.

A beautiful forest

Here is one of the prizes, and one of the tastiest wild mushroom.

We had mushroom soup and some mushrooms in pasta. It was very good (and none of us died).

A sunset as we were leaving the area.
